BT - Noise induced heaing loss - Tinnitus

Colm Owens Solicitor of O’Hare Solicitors Belfast has recently assisted several clients who wished to claim compensation for noise induced hearing loss/tinnitus following their work as BT Jointers/Engineers. Our clients' duties whilst working in BT included the use of oscillators and amplifiers when fault finding and changing over cables. Following settlement discussions with BT representatives several cases have now settled for £15,000.00, £13,500.00, £12,000.00 which our clients were delighted to accept.

  • 58 year old Maintenance Jointer/Internal Fitter with BT between 1977 to 1995 suffered tinnitus and sensorineural hearing loss in both ears – 10% attributed to Presbycusis (gradual hearing loss associated with age) – case settled for £12,000.00


  • 49 year old Jointer with BT between 1988 to 2000 and suffered noise induced hearing loss as the result of exposure to excessive noise using amplifiers and oscillators – case settled for £13,500.00


  • 51 year old Jointer with BT from 1989 to date suffered noise induced hearing loss and tinnitus as a result of prolonged used of amplifiers and oscillators – case settled for £15,000.00
